During the last few days of April, to the first few days of May,
quite a few important days in Japan fall unnaturally close together.
April 29th, May 3rd, 4th, and 5th are all holidays so Japanese people
quite intelligently decided to just take the whole week off. Anyway Yoko and I went to Okinawa for 3 days during our 'Golden Week'
as it's called. The first day was great, we went to this amazing
beach on a small island near Naha (the capital of Okinawa). Naturally
I forgot my camera so you'll have to imagine it's splendor at least
until I manage to go back again. The other two days were spent walking
around the capital. In Okinawa you can find these stone lions just
about everywhere. One of the pair always has it's mouth open. Not
sure why, or what their purpose is, but I think they're supposed
to be guarding against something. The weather was fairly good to
us, not a lot of sunshine, however it managed not to rain hard until
we left.
