The second of three large centerpieces for my upcoming art show in November at the Pink Cow (although I'm not sure I'll manage to finish the third...), I began working on this almost three months ago, and the devil, as they say, is in the details. This is the first time I've painted snow or ice, and I had a hell of a time trying to make it look realistic. After many trials with various styles and colours, I finally settled on this version. This is the third in the torii series, you must know by now how I love torii.

After seeing his photograph of the torii on the top of Mt. Kiso-Koma, one of my all time favourite photos, I asked him if I could paint it, and he graciously allowed me to do so.
