Red Leaves and Torii
2008
Oil on canvas
21" x 29"

As soon as I saw this photograph, I knew I had to paint it. I was blown away by the fantastic combination of various shades of red and orange, as well as how nature and traditional architecture complimented each other so well.

This particular scene is of a Japanese torii, which is a traditional gate usually found in front of temples and shrines. The photo was taken by my friend Dale Robinson, who kindly gave me permission to recreate it.
